Love Comedy For A Reason

Which are the reasons which folk provide to support their belief that the greatest time to witness stand-ups in Scotland's capital is during the Festival? 1 reason is the volume of gigs that are happening. Instead of the typical few stand-up shows, there are hundreds during the Fringe.
But my belief is that abundance does not necessarily mean great material. Over time I've gone to hundreds of stand up comedy events in the Fringe, and many of those have been rank. I've left several gigs after sitting for about 25 minutes without ever feeling the temptation to grin, never mind laugh. Just because a stand-up performance is in the Festival doesn't mean it is going to be amusing. I go to many comedy performances in all seasons, and in my experience there are much fewer really dreadful gigs on the rest of the year.

One principal reason which people give for going to the Fringe is that we get to see the most renowned stand-ups, and have the opportunity to watch the next big things in comedy at an early stage. My personal experience differs. The best known stand ups' gigs usually sell out prior to the time when you've actually been told they are performing, and consequently you're less likely to watch them doing their act in relation to the rest of the year.
And the argument that you're able to see the rising stars as they're released upon the world: in all honesty, I guess it's conceivable, but you're more likely to see someone who has 15 minutes of quite entertaining stuff, and forty minutes of unfunny nonsense.
None the less, they had a superb write-up because the journalist merely had long enough to watch the first ten minutes.

Most folk believe that the optimal occasion on which to catch stand up comedy in the capital of Scotland is in the Fringe every August. I am in the minority who doesn't agree with this logic. Experience the fringe whenever you've got the opportunity, but don't limit yourself to that. Sometimes the warm up comedians elsewhere would be funnier.

From time to time you can get low-priced comedy tickets during the Edinburgh Festival because there are tons of buy-one-get-one-free deals on. What that actually means is that if you utilize a two-for-the-price-of-one promotion, it sets you back the identical price to attend a performance as it would normally, due to the fact that throughout the Festival all the ticket prices increase two times. I'll go for open-mic night at my neighbourhood comedy club over that.
